Rotation is inspired by constant movement in our lives. It rides a fine line between soothing stillness and spinning energy, with the main melody escalating, rising, and falling. This rotation evokes both the monotony and passion of life. As the two instruments weave their melodic themes together, the energy should feel variable, with phrases rising and falling. The piece should feel carefree in some places and resolute in others, yet constantly flowing. Continuous energy should come from heavy use of classical legato in the saxophone, and both fan and pedal are suggested for the vibraphone.
