This piece was composed for the 2024 edition of the Iceberg Institute. "Hi" was premiered and recorded by Contemporary Art Music Project at the Timucua Arts Foundation in Orlando, Florida.
The mysterious colour of the bowed vibraphone opens the piece with a motive that evokes a timid character who is slowly introducing themselves. This motive follows the narrative of the piece: as it grows, so does the character’s confidence. This work was also inspired by jazz, minimalism and the music of the Second Viennese School. The second section is a dance with a minimalist and “house” flavour.
